A comment that really bothers me..

I am having my traumatology and orthopedic cycle now. Tomorrow will be the last day though... Now that I am in my clinical years, here in Russia we go by cycle. Heavy subjects like obstetrics and traumatology will last for 2 and a half weeks while the other trivial subjects like medical informatics will take only a week. During the cycle, we have to attend lectures and practical classes everyday...this system is boring on one hand but on the other hand, we can concentrate more on the particular subject. Pro et contra.

So, I was on my way back from class by the metro (the cheapest and fastest means of transportation here) and I was tottering as the metro left the station which I aboarded. I noticed this lady in her mid-fifties sitting on the row of seats in front of me kept staring at me. I tried to look elsewhere so that I didn't have to look into her eyes, just to avoid being scolded because it's just russians' usual habit to scold people, especially the foreigners. They just love scolding people with unknown reasons.

Ironically, she started a simple conversation by asking where I am from and why I am here in Moscow. I explained briefly with my limited language proficiency as in I am a Malaysian currently studying in the 2nd Medical school, blah blah blah...My, she was so shocked when she heard that I am a uni student! Guess what? She actually thought that I am 12 years old only! Come on, do I look that kiddo? Well, I know I am short which contributes to my young look but hello, 12? It can't possibly be lar! Some people will jump for joy when others comment about them looking young and all but honestly, I don't! When I look at the photos of my ex-schoolmates, I am so impressed and green with envy seeing how my fellow old friends have turned into matured beautiful young ladies while I still appear as a kid in the eyes of certain people that I meet. Sad to think about it, isn't it? Sigh... This comment of hers is really bothering me! I kept looking at the mirror but I can't find any concrete signs that I look so kiddo except for my height! What can be done to amend this fact?????!!!!

Well, I am supposed to be studying but I just can't find the mood to...Exam is just around the corner and everyone else is burying their noses deep into their books while I am still 'lepak-ing' around! Lazy yet 'kiasu' me huh? One more month of sufferings before my trip to Egypt! Yessssss, Egypt! I just can't wait for the day to come!!!!! Can't wait for the camel rides, can't wait to see the pyramid, the Sphinx and many more.... But for now, I have to face the reality and be very good friends with my dear books..... Chao!
