The beautiful side of Moscow
The 7 of us- David, Nicholas, Boonchin, Meisian, Lingtze, Bibiana and I had a wonderful day out to the city center. Our first stop was Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. It is the tallest Eastern Orthodox Church in the world. It is situated at the bank of Moscow River and was built when the Napoleon's soldiers left Moscow. It was demolished and then rebuilt in the 90s hence this is what a new Russian orthodox church ought to look like. The interior is magnificent but we are not allowed to take any picture inside the church. The wall was inlaid with precious stones, granites and marbles. All in all, it is a must visit in Moscow and most important of all, the admission is free!!!
We then cross the pedestrian bridge across the Moscow river to the statue of Peter the Great I on the bank of the Moscow River. Well, it is one of the tallest outdoor sculptures in the world. Next we walked to Park Kulturi Metro station and took a trolley bus to the Old Arbat where we had our lunch there.
Boonchin and the rest wanted to look for maps and guide book for their Europe trip so we headed to Dom Knigi, the largest bookshop in Moscow. However, we came back empty handed. LOL.
